Sam Dason DDS - Reasons Why You Should Brush Twice A Day

As an experienced general dentist and owner of a Dental Corporation, Sam Dason DDS focuses on educating his patients as well as providing them with the highest possible standards of care. Brushing regularly is something that all dentists encourage, but many patients struggle to see the reasoning behind it. The following are all great reasons for why you should brush your teeth twice a day.
Sam Dason DDS
  • If you don’t brush your teeth regularly bacteria will start to build up in your mouth, which can cause a number of problems for your gums. Furthermore, this bacteria buildup will also result in your breath starting to smell.
  • Most toothpastes contain mild abrasive materials that are used to remove surface stains from your teeth, which gives them a more attractive appearance.
  • If you don’t brush often you will allow plaque to develop between your teeth. If left unchecked this plaque can lead to gum disease, such as gingivitis, which results in inflammation of the gums, tenderness and bleeding.
  • It will save you money on expensive dental treatments that could otherwise have been avoided if you brushed regularly.
  • There are some studies to suggest that bacteria buildup in the mouth can result in increased risk of a number of ailments, including heart disease, strokes and dementia. There have also been links to premature birth.
Upon completing his dental studies at Loma Linda University in 1993, Sam Dason DDS entered general practice. He has been treating patients for around 23 years and is able to provide reliable and actionable advice.

Sam Dason DDS - Tips For Being An Ethical Dentist

As an experienced dentist who has been in private practice since 1994, it is important to Sam Dason DDS that he takes ethical considerations into account whenever he provides treatment to a patient. The following are all good tips for dentists who want to ensure that their treatment plans are ethical and that they serve the needs of their patients

Respect Patient Opinions
Every patient that you meet has the right to make their own choices in regards to their dental hygiene. They also have a right to privacy and confidentiality in treatment, which must be respected at all times. If you take these rights away from your patients, you will lose their trust and will find it much more difficult to provide good care.

Always Avoid Harm
Every treatment plan that you suggest or prescribe must be implemented with the aim of improving the health of your patient. You have a duty to your patients to keep them safe and healthy, which must be remembered at all times during your work. To do this you must dedicate yourself to improving your knowledge base and using the latest techniques.

Be Fair and Truthful
Sam Dason DDS is a general dentist who works closely with his patients to ensure they have the information they need to select appropriate treatments. He must make sure that he is fair at all times and doesn’t allow discrimination to color the decisions that he makes. He must also be truthful with patients in order to build trust with them and ensure they get the treatment that they need.

Biting Your Nails

Nail biting can cause damage to your dentures that may stretch beyond the merely cosmetic. In the worst cases, this damage will need to be professionally fixed, which can cost a lot of time and money.

Smoking

Both smoking and chewing tobacco may lead to your dentures becoming discolored, much like the effect that they have on real teeth. Furthermore, it can result in the creation of open sores, irritation and other issues within the mouth.

Skipping Oral Care

Your dentures need to be cared for like any normal teeth would, so it is important that you don’t get into the habit of skipping your oral hygiene routine. Ideally you will have a soft-bristled brush and either a gentle toothpaste or dental cleaner to get the job done. Clean your dentures every evening when you take them out else you run the risk of plaque buildup, which can harbor bacteria that could cause further oral hygiene issues.

Although it is easier to correct teeth with braces at a young age (early teens) great results can be obtained through the use of braces for adults as well. In some instances, a person’s family could not afford braces so they are seeking out this procedure as adults. In addition to straightening your teeth, braces also provide and ensure a correct overbite, enabling you to properly chew your food for digestion.

Braces can be constructed of different types of materials including metal or plastic.  Once your teeth are cleaned and dried, the braces are bound to the teeth with glue. For minor spacing problems in adults, aligners are often used. These are removable, clear braces, usually wore for two weeks. Permanent braces are worn anywhere from 1 to 2 years and follow up wear with retainers.

An article posted on “Know Your Teeth” states: “Your dentist will know what appliance is best for your particular problem, but you often have a choice. Braces generally come in three varieties.  The most popular type are brackets, metal, ceramic or plastic that are bonded to teeth.”
Sam Dason, DDS will ensure your braces are the perfect match and style you desire. He will give you the results that make you shine with confidence. A member of the International Association for Orthodontics since 1998, he is an accomplished dentist who has your best interest at heart.
