Sam Dason DDS on why Root Canals are Nothing to Fear

Sam Dason DDS has performed plenty of root canals in his time as a dentist. He knows that many people fear them, and dread the prospect of having to receive one. While there is much stigma about root canals, Sam Dason DDS knows that foregoing a treatment will likely result in far more pain for the individual, than if they had simply gotten it taken care of. This is often the case for many medical procedures, where instead of getting the treatment, people hold off on it. This results in the problem getting worse, and likely resulting in a more serious treatment.

The basis of the root canal is the pulp. This pulp is underneath the hard, outer enamel that we see on the outside. The pulp is part of what nourishes the tooth, but once a fully matured tooth is gained, it is no longer needed, as the tooth can be nourished by the tissue surrounding it. If the pulp becomes infected, it can cause infection and internal decay for the tooth itself. This is obviously bad news for the patient. The pulp is removed and carefully replaced by a substitute during a routine root canal.

Sam Dason DDS has experience in performing a variety of dental procedures such as root canals, and he knows that people have little to fear. Modern dentistry makes a root canal no more serious than getting a filling, and is often finished in just one or two appointments. The modern root canal is nothing to fear.
